Is there anything dreamier than wandering through sunflower fields in Ohio? These bright blooms are the tell-tale sign that the hot summer days will soon be replaced by the crisp autumn breeze we’ve all been waiting for.

We’ve rounded up a list Ohio sunflower fields and farms for you to add to your end of summer and fall bucket list. Which do you think is the best sunflower field Ohio has to offer?

When do sunflower fields bloom in Ohio?

Don’t wait too long to visit these sunflower fields once they start to bloom! Peak blooms for sunflower fields in Ohio are late summer (end of July) and early fall. The blooms only last for around 3 weeks.

What to know before visiting a sunflower field in Ohio:

  • Don’t pick any sunflowers unless you are sure the location allows it. Some places allow you to take sunflowers home, but many fields are just to admire!
  • Sunflower fields in Ohio present the perfect backdrop for IG and family pictures. Be sure to check your location’s website before you go to be sure you are adhering to their photography policies.
  • Be prepared for a little mud. Bring an extra pair of shoes and a change of clothes for little ones – you can never be too prepared!

Lynd Fruit Farm’s S’Miles of Sunflowers

  • When can I visit in 2022?: August 5-14: S’Miles of Sunflowers is happening daily at the Pataskala location, 10am-5pm.
  • Can you pick sunflowers?: All tickets include a sunflower bloom of your choice. You must bring your own hand pruners or purchase a pair at the tent. Additional sunflowers may be purchased for $15 (glass mason jar) or $25 (galvanized French vase).

Coshocton Sunflower Festival

  • Can you pick sunflowers?: Admission allows you to pick one sunflower per visit of your choice. Add on a “Bucket o’ Sunshine” to fill a bucket or buy a bundle.
  • Admission: Admission ranges between $7 and $18 for the day. The price varies by day of the season based on what is happening that day. Season passes are available.
  • Special events: Sippin’ on Sunshine (21+) on Aug. 6th and an “Early Bloomers Day” on Aug. 7th.

Wander through over 40 varieties of sunflowers, including the Sea of Yellow with 5-6 foot tall classic sunflowers. Antique photo props are set up throughout the festival grounds so you can snap that perfect autumn photo. A variety of food trucks and a beer garden will be on site for food and drink. Each ticket includes one sunflower to take home with you, and you can purchase an add-on while you’re buying your ticket online to take home a whole Bucket o’ Sunshine!


Hendren Farm Market

  • When can I visit in 2022?: They have not announced any timing for their fields but their site says August. Hours are Monday-Thursday 10-5, Friday- Saturday 10- 6, Sunday 12-5. Last tickets sold one hour prior to close. Be sure to check for their ending date as they do not have one listed.
  • Can you pick sunflowers?: You get to take home one stem (with admission) and can purchase more at $1/stem. They ask that you bring your own cutter and suggest that you bring a bucket for water.
  • Admission: $5 per person, 3 and under free (includes one stem)
  • More things to do: They sell lots of fresh produce.
  • Are dogs allowed?: Not specified

Maize Valley Sunflower Festival

On August 13 and 20, 2022: Visit 100 various artisans, crafters and makers who will be on site displaying their wares – jewelry, clothing, candles, woodworking, leather craft, pottery and more.  Live music, corn hole games, food trucks, wine & beer.  Sip, shop, stroll the beautiful grounds of Maize Valley.  There is no charge to visit the festival portion of the event.


Yellow Springs Sunflowers

Ramseyer Farms Sunflower Days

Ramseyer Farms is home to thousands of sunflowers spanning over 9 acres of land. September 17, 18, 24, and 25 marks the fifth annual Sunflower Festival at Ramseyer Farms, complete with 50+ activities, live music, food vendors, and access to their sunflower field. If you can’t make it on the weekend, you can also visit September 16 and Sept. 21-23 for access to the sunflower fields without the extra activities.


Dresbach Farms

Maria’s Field of Hope

  • Admission: Free. They do accept donations to help fund more targeted, life-saving treatments for children battling deadly brain tumors. Shutterbug pass $50 – $100.
  • Special events: Sunflower and Wine Festival on July 9, 2022.

The Prayers for Maria Foundation planted Maria’s Field of Hope in memory of Maria McNamara, and to honor the courageous children who are battling cancer and those who have lost. It has now grown to 2 locations: Avon and Cedar Point. At Avon, you will find 5 varieties of sunflowers in a 23 acre field. The Avon sunflower field should be in full bloom in September, which is also Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. The Cedar Point sunflower field spans 8 acres of land with over 240,000 sunflower seeds planted and eager to bloom.


CherryHawk Farm

  • When can I visit in 2022?: Dates are not out yet for this year; last year they had a field of sunflowers in mid-September
  • Can you pick sunflowers? One stem is included in admission, additional stems are $TBD (does not specify if you get to pick them)
  • Admission: included with a minimum purchase of one peck of apples ($20-25); bag price is good for one person, a couple, or immediate family
  • More things to do: you may be able to pick apples here at the same time (depends on crops)
  • Are dogs allowed?: Dogs are not allowed in the main orchard or the sunflowers.

CherryHawk Farm is primarily a U-Pick apples farm. They are hoping to have sunflowers in early to mid-September.


Branstool Orchards

  • When can I visit in 2022?: The sunflower field opened July 22, 2022. Visit for $5 and cut two flowers while there. They expect the field to be open for two weeks.
  • Can you pick sunflowers?: Yes. Two flowers are included with admission. You can buy additional flowers: ? for each additional stem. They ask that you bring your own pruners.
  • Admission: $5 per person. You can cut two flowers with your admission.
  • More things to do: This is an orchard so they offer fresh fruit and produce.
  • Are dogs allowed?: Leashed dogs are welcome but they ask that they do not go into the market.

You will need to bring your own pruners (they have a limited number to share).

  1. Check out SchoolHouse Farms 1862 in Rockford OH… festival August 5-8, 2021. 160 acres of sunflowers, worlds largest hydrological map of Ohio – 23 acres in the middle of one field. UPick, food, farm market.
