The Learning Kitchen offers hands-on cooking classes in their own state-of-the-art kitchen. They have a big island in the center of the kitchen that accomodates up to 12 students plus a chef instructor. The instructor will cook and teach as you cook along at your own cooktop. You’ll even get to eat what you prepared before you leave!

Choose from cooking classes such as Fall Comfort Food, Galettes: Easy as Pie, Homemade Gnocchi Workshop, KY Bourbon Filet, and much more. They also have Skills Class where you can improve and learn a new skill for the kitchen (includes sauces, cooking 1010, knife skills, etc.).

Looking for a great date night idea? They have Date Night Cooking Classes including “Date Night Authentic Thai Cuisine”, “Date Night India”, “Date Night Sushi Workshop”, and lots more.

How they’ve adapted in 2020: class size is limited to maintain 6′ spacing, masks will be worn, nothing is shared and nothing is passed, each station has its own set of common ingredients, hand sanitizer is provided at each station.

Location: cooking classes are held at The Findlay Kitchen, 1719 Elm St., Cincinnati, Ohio 45202

Tablespoon Cooking Co. offers cooking classes where you’ll get hands-on instruction from professional chefs. Included in your class is hands-on instruction and cooking, craft beer and hand-picked wine from small producers, a booklet of recipes from class, all the food you cook during class and your leftovers to take home!

Their classes sell out QUICKLY so if you see something you like and it’s open, be sure to sign up. Choose from classes and workshops such as Taco and Margarita Fiesta, Classic Curries, Fresh Pasta, and MUCH more.

How they’ve adapted in 2020: events are capped at 12-13 guests, guests will dine at their own work stations, each party gets their own work station and will be spaced 6′ apart, they’ll have live video showing what the chef is doing so you can follow along without crowding around at the chef’s work station, they’ve put all of their plans into a doc, find it here.

Turner Farm

The Turner Farm Teaching Kitchen offers classes for all ages and skill levels. They use the freshest ingredients, right from their own farm and from other local farmers and producers. Cooking classes are offered in their exquisitely renovated 100-year-old barn. They have a state-of-the-art teaching kitchen with eight, two-person cooking stations—the perfect setup for intimate, hands-workshops.

Classes are currently on hold at this time (thank you, 2020!) but we wanted to be sure to mention them here because this can’t go on forever… right?

Jungle Jim’s International Market

Location: 5440 Dixie Highway. Fairfield, Ohio 45014

Jungle Jim’s has gone virtual with the Cooking School. You can choose to relax and watch the demonstration, or roll up your sleeves and join in on the cooking fun. Included are the recipes for the class, the opportunity to follow live video instruction, and the ability to ask the instructor questions throughout the course. For locals, they offer an ingredients kit if you’d like to stop by and pick it up.

The Learning Kitchen

The Learning Kitchen offers PRIVATE virtual cooking classes. Great for work groups, friends, and families – you all participate via Zoom and cook together… but at your own homes. They send you the recipes, grocery list, and instructions. Each person gathers his/her own ingredients and then tunes into Zoom (at the groups’ class time) to get cooking.

Tablespoon Cooking Co.

Tablespoon Cooking Co. offers hands-on virtual cooking classes PLUS a fun monthly Cookbook Club experience (see below for info). You can pick up one of their ingredients kit or shop and prep your own (they’ll give you a list). On the Zoom conference, you’ll cook along with the chef-instructors and will be able to ask questions. Current virtual learning classes include Simple Soups, Pizza Party, and even a kids’ workshop: Brownies!

For the Cookbook Club, guests will all meet up via Zoom on a specified date. The virtual event is free but you do need to register. Everyone is encouraged to make a dish from that month’s cookbook (prior to the Zoom chat). They’ll go around and ask everyone to show off your dish (if you were able to make it that day) and discuss what went well and what was challenging.
