November 10: DAV 5k, Run to Honor Veterans

November 10: Rhinegeist Veterans Day Fundraiser. Head to the Rhinegeist taproom this Veterans Day to celebrate the men and women who have served bravely in our Armed Forces. For their taproom event, 50% of beer sales will be donated to The Barracks Project, Inc. Here’s what you can look forward to on event day:  Valor: They’ll be tapping Valor, a tasty Coconut Porter devised and brewed by veterans on staff. ; Pay-A-Pint Forward: Attendees can pre-purchase a pint for an active or veteran military member. When a military member comes to the bar, they can redeem their free pint! ; Archery: $1 to play, all proceeds donated ; Raffle: all proceeds donated ; Patriotic Postcards: write a message to troops serving overseas — we will send them post-event! ; Rescued & Ready Inc. will also be on site providing information about their rescue services to those that are disabled.

November 11: Veterans Day at Union Terminal. The event includes tours; a Cincinnati Warbirds EAA Squadron 18 flyover (weather permitting) followed by a Veterans Honors Ceremony featuring the Army Band of Flight; WWII, Korean and Vietnam War Panel, moderated by John Lomax; and a Persian Gulf, Iraq and Afghanistan War Panel, moderated by Craig McKee (see site for times).

November 11: Veterans Day Salute at Memorial Hall. This unique Veterans Day tribute will include a full day of activities, with a morning lecture and afternoon military dress exhibition, culminating in a performance by Memorial Hall’s longtime resident wind symphony, the Queen City Concert Band (QCCB). Following a Military Honor Guard representing all branches of the United States military, the QCCB will offer a variety of patriotic selections with themes reflecting the service and sacrifice of our men and women in uniform during America’s significant domestic and foreign wars. As a special treat, the QCCB will feature the talents of three students from the School for Creative and Performing Arts, who will sing a rousing medley of popular World War II era hits by the Andrews Sisters. There will also be a timely musical commemoration acknowledging the centennial anniversary of the first world war. A cookie and punch reception will follow.

November 11:  VFW Post 10380 Veterans Day Ceremony, 11-11:30am at Veterans Park (6303 Harrison Ave)

November 11: Veteran’s Day Ceremony in Blue Ash. The Blue Ash Veterans Day Ceremony is the largest in Southwest Ohio. Join in to honor all veterans at 10:30 a.m. at the Blue Ash Bicentennial Veterans Memorial Park, located at the corner of Cooper and Hunt Roads. There will be essay readings from local students, a wreath laying, taps, and much more. Colonel Paul W. Fellinger, Jr. will serve as keynote speaker. The ceremony will be followed by a picnic-style lunch served in the Blue Ash Recreation Center for $5 per person. Everyone is invited.

November 11: Honor Run in Florence, Ky

November 11: The American Legion Veterans Day Parade in Batavia will begin at 1pm.

November 11: Veterans Day Ceremony at the American Legion Post 484, 6-8pm. The evening will begin with cheese coneys courtesy of Gold Star Chili and fellowship at 6:00 PM. The ceremony to honor all Veterans will begin at 7:00pm. The keynote speaker for this evening will be Post 484 member and Vietnam veteran Tom Adkins. Lastly, they will conclude the ceremony with a 21 Gun Salute from Post 484’s Honor Guard.

November 12: Local radio host Lincoln Ware will be the keynote speaker at the 64th Veterans Day Commemoration at the Main Library. The program begins at 10:45 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12, in the atrium of the South Building.

Spring Grove Cemetery and Arboretum honors our Veterans with Flags of Honor, Nov. 4 – 12; 100 3’ x 5’ sponsored US flags will be placed along the roadways within the cemetery and will be on display the entire week of the Veterans Day holiday. The proceeds from sponsorships will be distributed to Honor Flight Tristate and the Spring Grove Heritage Foundation.

 

Free Admission for Members of the Armed Services:

B105 Military Days at the Cincinnati Zoo: All members of the military — active and retired — will receive FREE admission to the Zoo on Veteran’s Day.  The offer also allows military personnel to purchase up to six (6) half-price admission tickets for members of their immediate family. Military personnel who qualify for the free admission ticket and discount offer for family members include active military, retired military, National Guard, veterans with honorable or medical discharge and Reserve Officers’ Training Corps with government issued ID.

The Newport Aquarium is honoring all the men and women who’ve served our country by offering them free admission November 11-18.  If you’re an active or retired member of the military, a disabled veteran, military reservist, or anyone who has ever served in the Armed Forces, just show your Military I.D. (Military I.D. card, VA membership or healthcare card, a state verified veteran status logo on your driver’s license or state I.D., discharge papers or any other proof of military service) at the Newport Aquarium ticket window to receive your free admission. Family members can receive their military discount of $3 off adult tickets and $2 off child tickets.

Cincinnati Museum Center celebrates our heroes! Military persons, including active and retired veterans, get into the Duke Energy Children’s Museum for free on November 11 when they present their military ID at the Box Office. Military persons can also receive a $5 discount on admission to Chocolate or GUITAR or a $5 discount on admission for a combo ticket for both special exhibitions.

 

Free Meals for Veterans (we’ll add more as they’re announce for 2018):

Gold Star Chili is celebrating the men and women who have served our nation with a complimentary 3-Way and drink to all active duty military and veterans. To enjoy this offer, guests can simply present documentation of his or her military service. This offer is valid at all Gold Star locations in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana for classic or vegetarian chili 3-ways.

Applebee’s: On Veterans Day, Sunday, November 11th, Applebee’s® is on a mission to serve one million meals to neighborhood military heroes. For the 11th year, all veterans and active duty military are invited to visit their local Applebee’s® on Veterans Day to enjoy a free full-size entrée from a selection of eight fan favorites.

Red Lobster is offering a free appetizer or dessert to veterans, active duty military and reservists for their service. Guests only need to show a valid military ID or proof of service to redeem this offer.

Lucius Q is offering free orders of their whole smoked wings to all Veterans and active duty personnel on Sunday and Monday (Nov. 11 & 12)!

Taste of Belgium is offering free brunch to all veterans and active duty persons (must show I.D.). Offer good Monday, Nov. 12, 2018, 7am-3pm at all locations.
