Personally, I CAN NOT WAIT to see this exhibition at the Taft Museum of Art – From Studio to Carousel: The Whimsical World of Jonathan Queen.
What makes this so exciting? It’s a behind the scenes look at the work Cincinnati artist Jonathan Queen did for the new Carol Ann’s Carousel at Smale Riverfront Park.
It’s at one of my favorite museums – The Taft Museum of Art. It’s all about the art on Carol Ann’s Carousel at one of my favorite parks – Smale Riverfront Park. AND it’s all about an amazing Cincinnati artist – Jonathan Queen.
This exhibition will feature Queen’s studies for the carousel paintings, clay models for the animals, and other carousel-related works, while revealing the painstaking process that Queen used to complete each painting. Playful, nostalgic, and witty, Queen’s carousel project captures the wonder and joy of experiencing the outdoors in Cincinnati’s beautiful parks.
AND if you’d like to meet the guy behind these gorgeous paintings, Jonathan Queen will be at The Taft Museum of Art on June 4 for an Artist Talk where he will discuss his work on the carousel (advance registration is required for the talk).
The Taft Museum of Art offers “Summer Art Day Camp” and many of the camps feature Jonathan Queen’s work (and some even include Jonathan’s participation in the class!). These classes are selling out quickly so be sure to get your child signed up if this of interest to you.
