Things to Do in Cincinnati This Weekend, July 6-8

It looks like the weather is going to cool off just a bit and leave us with a great weekend! Get out and enjoy this list of things to do for the weekend in Cincinnati!

Friday, July 6:

Big Kid Crafternoon: Felted Succulents Blue Manatee, 1:30pm-2:30pm. Join blue manatee’s Miss Kelli to create an adorable needle felted succulent in a little clay pot! All of the materials you’ll need (wool, felting needles, pots, and accouterments) will be included. Registration is required. Details 

Wand Workshop: Joseph-Beth Cincinnati, 2:00pm-3:30pm. Make Ollivander proud and create your own wand, complete with magic cores – unicorn tail, dragon heartstring, phoenix feather, and some you’ve never even heard of! Includes ‘Gurdyroot’ juice and snacks. Registration is required – $8 per child. Recommended for ages 8-12. Details 

Riverboats and Roots hosted by Heritage Brewing Trail, 5:30pm-6:30pm. Starting at the Moerlein Lager House, on this 60-minute tour you’ll learn the roots of Cincinnati’s grand brewing heritage from the first breweries on the riverfront to shipping beer worldwide from Public Landing. The tour then returns to modern day with a tour of the award-winning brewery in the Moerlein Lager House and ends with a complimentary beer. Details 

Sew What: Fiberge Knits + Bolts, 6:00pm-9:00pm. Sew What! is time to sew and quilt with other “materialistic” people! Bring an adult beverage if you wish, and come enjoy some kid-free productivity. Details 

OTRimprov at Memorial Hall, 10:30pm-11:30pm. OTRimprov will perform a night of improv when the kids go home after the ComedySportz show. There will be laughs, drama, and chairs. Come out for a night of hilarity made up on the spot! Details

Fibonacci July Bluegrass Night with Che Empanadas Food Truck, 7:00pm- 9:00pm. Come out to see Vernon McIntyre’s Appalachian Grass at Fibonacci Brewing Company!  Cheempanadastruck will be on site for the evening with some delicious treats! for the night. Details

 

Saturday, July 7:

Butterfly Fest hosted by Blooms and Berries Farm Market, 9:30am-6:00pm. See Over 1,000 Native Butterflies released each weekend. There are limited tickets for the kids butterfly release. Walk along a one mile path of butterfly pollinator plants. You can also speak with butterfly and bee experts. Details 

Fairies Festivities and Trading Post, Highfield Discovery Gardens (at Glenwood Gardens*), 12-4pm. Fairies will be setting up a booth inside Highfield Discovery Garden to trade natural materials for treasures. Bring in a selection of special rocks, seeds, buttons and ribbon to barter for something new. Glenwood Gardens/Highfield Discovery Garden (Program included in Highfield admission: $5/person). Details

Weekend Walkabout/July Spring Grove Cemetery, 10:00am-11:30am. Come and discover the incredible number presidential connections that are here in Spring Grove Cemetery. Whether an appointment or a relative, this 90 minute tram tour will provide a snapshot into Cincinnati and Presidential history as well as refresh your soul as you take in the beauty and splendor of Spring Grove. Punch Out Round Three: Fifty West Brewing Company, 4-11:30pm. Brewery-on-brewery boxing matches, live music, local food vendors, and 80+ local craft beers available on draft from breweries around Greater Cincinnati. Tickets required. Details

Spanish Play and Learn: Red Balloon Cafe, 10:00am-10:45am. If children learn through play, then, play in Spanish. Join Miss Ana for a fun, engaging, hands-on Spanish play time where you and your family will be exposed to the Spanish language. Singing and playing with the family are the key to a great play/class. Bubbles, music, toys, maracas, and prizes will be part of this fun class. Details 

Saturday Morning Pokemon hosted by Plus One Gaming, 10:00am-5:00pm. Plus One Gaming hosts weekly Official Pokemon Tournaments. Tournaments each and every Saturday Morning starting at 10:00 AM! These are Official Pokemon Local Tournaments playing with the Standard Format, Swiss pairings and prizes to the Top Players! Sign Ups begin at 10:00 AM and go until 10:20 AM. Details

 

Sunday, July 8:

Tunes at the Taft – 11:00am-5:00pm. Enjoy the sweet sounds of summer with Tunes at the Taft—a contemporary music series featuring the city’s top talent. Join us outside under the tent for an afternoon of music, friends, and fun. Details

Night in the Planetarium at Woodland Mound*, 2-4pm. Come explore the sounds and creatures of the night during the day in an inflatable planetarium. Presentations will begin every half hour between 2–4 p.m. Woodland Mound/Seasongood Nature Center (Free). Details

Brunch Squared hosted by The Hanky Panks and Fountain Square, 10:00am-2:00pm. Make time for brunch at Fountain Square  with your friends and family! Enjoy your favorite food trucks including The Dapper Doughnut -North Cincinnati, PretzelFuls, LLC, and Sunny Side Brunch serving up brunch goodies along with LIVE music from The Hanky Panks.  Details 

Summer Fair at Vinoklet, 11:00am-5:00pm. Stop by the Vinoklet Winery Summer Fair and Craft Show. Nashville’s original recording artists, The Skallywags will be performing an outdoor concert in the vineyard. With free admission, you get to enjoy Live Free Music, shop many local artists at the craft show, and indulge in many other goodies. Details 

Yellow Submarine hosted by The Esquire, Mariemont & Kenwood Theatre, 1:00pm-2:30pm. Make time to attend the Esquire Theatre for a special one-time screening of the icon of psychedelic pop culture! YELLOW SUBMARINE is a colorful musical spectacle and an exhilaratingly joyful cinematic experience for all ages – filled with visual invention, optical illusions, word play, and glorious, glorious music. Second Sunday on Main, 12:00pm-5:00pm. Second Sunday on Main – OTR’s oldest street festival, continues to celebrate Pride Month with “Pride on Main”, this Sunday, July 8th. Music by Jennifer Simone, MARR, and Jess Lamb and the Factory. Details 

Family Feud Trivia Night hosted by West Side Brewing, 7:00pm-9:00pm. Come and compete for 1 of 3 prizes given away each night. The format is similar to Last Call’s popular Trivia game but the difference is that Feud challenges you to identify the most popular answers instead of having to know the correct answers. Details 

OTR Performs Cincinnati Brass Band hosted by Washington Park 7:00pm-9:00pm This Sunday OTR Performs with the Cincinnati Brass Band. Enjoy a selection of fun Americana Favorites! Details
