Friday, February 28:

It’s time for the annual Bockfest Parade! Head downtown to experience this unique Cincinnati parade that kicks off Bockfest Weekend. The parade starts at Arnold’s Bar and Grill (6pm), travels up Sycamore Street to 12th Street to Main Street to Bockfest Hall and ends with the blessing of the bock beer. {details}

Art After Dark: Harlem Nights is happening at the Cincinnati Art Museum, 5-9pm. Join in to celebrate the opening of special exhibition “Something Over Something Else”: Romare Bearden’s Profile Series and Black History Month with live jazz music, food for purchase from Just Q’in BBQ, specialty cocktails and docent-led tours throughout the night. {details}

Head to the Pendleton Art Center for Final Friday. Walk through and visit the art studios from 6-10pm. Studios of the Pendleton Art Center are open to the public, giving guests the opportunity to view creative art space, as well as purchase one-of-a-kind artwork directly from artists. {details}

Enjoy Bockfest! Saturday morning starts off with the Bockfest 5K, then you can tap into the Bock Beer Blowout featuring local bock beer tastings with over 18 bocks on draft, homebrew competitions, historic brewery walking tours, Bockfeast Pig Roast, and fun beer games pitting local breweries vying for the coveted Brewers Cup. Saturday night kicks back into high gear with the Billygoat Ball with more cold bock beer, the Beard Baron and Sausage Queen competitions, and headliner The Rusty Griswolds! {details}

Join Cincinnati Museum Center and the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County for Read Across America Day. Enjoy a day of story times, arts and crafts and a celebration of the magical, time-traveling, imaginative power of reading at Cincinnati Museum Center. Head to Clermont County Parks’ Pattison Lodge for Discovery Days: Art and Tools of Maple Sugaring, 2-3pm. Help make maple syrup by using the tools of the trade while tapping a sugar maple tree, finding maple sap, and preparing the sap for its transformation. Bring the kids to Bockfest Hall on Sunday for Bock, Brunch, and Bavarians. The family fun starts with the Little Links childrens’ pageant and features kid-friendly games and petting zoo – plus Goat Yoga, the Bockfeast Pig Roast Dinner and Bock Bloody Mary Bar. The .05K Fun “Run” raises funds for the Brewing Heritage Trail and Continental Sunday showcases our rich heritage with live German music and dancing, steins and breweriana, historic brewery walking tours, and a series of local history talks.  {details}

There’s a Orienteering Workshop happening at Sharon Woods* on Sunday. JackRabbit is partnering with Orienteering Cincinnati for an exciting, hands-on orienteering workshop! Join in on March 1st at 10 am at the Sharon Woods auditorium. Please arrive no later than 9:50 am. Orienteering Cincinnati will offer a FREE 15 to 20 minute educational session and will then take you out on the beginner’s course for a map hike. If you love the experience, then stick around and register for the event happening immediately after where you can test out your new skills on the five additional courses by yourself! {details}

The Nancy & David Wolf Holocaust & Humanity Center is introducing the “First Sunday Series,” a reoccurring monthly event that combines guided museum tours and engaging lectures. During the first Sunday of each month this year, visitors get an immersive experience when they purchase admission to the museum: All-day access to the museum from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Entry to a lecture series at 1 p.m., featuring local Holocaust survivors and family members; and a guided tour at 2 p.m. The series continues on Sunday, March 1, with “Resistance & Resilience: Women Survivors of the Holocaust,” which highlights the story of local Holocaust survivor Zahava Rendler. Zahava, a child survivor, was hidden by nuns throughout the war. After the Speaker Series presentation, join HHC interpreter Joyce Kamen for a 2:00 PM Drop-In Tour of the Holocaust & Humanity Center featuring women’s stories in the museum. The drop-in tour is included with the purchase of Holocaust & Humanity Center admission. {details}
