Things to Do in Cincinnati This Weekend, May 18-20

There’s lots to do in Cincinnati this weekend… and if you’re on a budget you’ll be glad to see how many free events there are this weekend. Check out our list below.

Friday, May 18:

Art on Vine Kicks Off OTR Neighborhood Night: 75 + local artists displaying and selling their art and hand made goods in Washington Park. 4-10pm

Enjoy a Neighborhood Celebration at Washington Park. Sponsors from The Garage OTR, Cincy Red Bike, and the Pedal Wagon Cincinnati will be giving free neighborhood tours, and Art on Vine will be hosting their May event at Washington Park.

Enjoy local food, arts, and activities, meet some of your fellow neighbors, and celebrate our beautiful city!

Head to Mainstrasse in Covington for Maifest. The annual celebration of spring and outdoor activities provides lots of free live music, family activities, and plenty of food and drink. Hours are Friday: 5pm to 11pm (Parade at 6:30pm, Opening Ceremony at 7pm); Saturday: Noon to 11pm; and  Sunday: Noon to 8pm

Buckeye BBQ Fest is happening at The Square at Union Centre. The Buckeye BBQ Fest will feature two nights of non-stop Blues from the Midwest’s top Blues Bands, 99 kegs of Beer including local microbrews, 15 BBQ vendors, sweet treats, a Classic Car Show, and more. A Kids Zone with inflatable bouncy rides and on Saturday a petting zoo from noon until 9:00 pm. Hours are Friday 5-11pm and Saturday Noon – 11pm.

“The Secret Life of Pets” is the featured movie for Movies in the Park (Fairfield). The Fairfield Fire Department will have pre-show fun and giveaways as a different movie is featured throughout the summer. this event is weather dependent. Activities start one hour before dusk and movies start at dusk.

“Angels in the Outfield” is the featured movie for Movie in the Park at Summit Park (Blue Ash). Movie begins at dusk.

 

Saturday, May 19:

Taft Museum of Art is free (with ticket) on Saturday in celebration of #ArtMuseumDay.  Here’s your chance to see the sparkling works of Tiffany before the exhibition ends. Click here to reserve your free tickets.

The American Sign Museum is offering free admission today in celebration of International Museum Day. The museum will be open FREE to the public and will have sign demonstrations  throughout the museum.  Also of special note is the museum’s Boneyard Annex will be open to the public for the first time ever. Hours are 10am – 4pm.

Head to Harrison for The District’s annual Food Truck Rally in Historic Downtown Harrison. They will have a selection of food trucks, drinks, and live music. 4-10pm.

 

Sunday, May 20:

It’s time for Third Sunday Fundays at the Taft Museum of Art. This month’s theme is Under Water. This family friendly event encourages you to create your own sea creature craft to take home and become an art reporter at the Art Cart. Learn all about sharks during a presentation of the Newport Aquarium’s Shark Cart at 2 p.m. and then, at 3 p.m., get up close and pet the sharks. 1-4pm, free admission.

The Burlington Antique Show features over 200 antique dealers. Show is rain or shine. 6am – 3pm.

It’s a Pub Crawl with New Orleans flair. Participants (21+) will be led by a five piece New Orleans style jazz band parading to each venue. (This event will go on rain or shine, but in the event of inclement weather, the band will play inside at each venue.) There will be four venues & each will have a special New Orleans cocktail or beer available for you to purchase and many will be specially priced. 2-4:30pm.

2018 Midwest Regional Sweet & Natural Fest is happening at Washington Park.  Music, hair & make up demos, the AfroSwag Fashion Show, a Cultural Market Place, information on holistic health & wellness, The World’s Biggest Product Swap, a plush green lawn for blankets,The Beauty Lounge & Beard Bar, and MORE will make this event one to remember. Free and family friendly. 12-6pm.

The Hyde Park Farmers Market opens for the season on Sunday.
