Friday, February 21:

Deerfield Township and the Mason Public Library have partnered to offer free, nature-themed story times at the Snyder House at Cottell Park. February’s theme is Stories in the Snow. This kick-off story time will feature live animal guests. This program is appropriate for children between 3 -6 years old. Please note that Caregivers must remain with the child. Siblings of any age are welcome at story times. 10:30am-11:30am. {details}

Rookwood Pottery offers Friday Tours at their OTR Flagship Store, 10:30-11:30am. They invite you to explore Rookwood’s 88,000 square foot production facility in the heart of Cincinnati’s historic Over-the-Rhine neighborhood with a guided working factory tour led by resident historian, George Hibben. {details}


Saturday, February 22:

There’s a Cincy Book Bus Pop Up Shop happening at Wyoming Community Coffee, 9am-1pm. The Cincy Book Bus, a traveling book shop, will be stopping in to share her incredible collection! Always a popular event, come early, grab a coffee and read the day away! {details}

Case #1758, Wedding Waterloo – It’s the next Murder Dinner Series from Great Parks of Hamilton County. Jack and Jenny’s wedding day is finally upon us, and Mamma Mia, has it been a wild ride! Will they actually Take A Chance on love, or will today be their Waterloo?  Enjoy an evening of adult humor and fun at a mystery dinner. Advance ticket purchase is required. For ages 18 and up. Maple Sugar in Cincinnati

Maple Sugar Days are happening this weekend (Saturday and Sunday) at Farbach-Werner Nature Preserve*, noon to 4pm. A favorite of all ages, Maple Sugar Days show the history of maple sugaring that has been passed down through generations. Join us for a weekend of discovery: Learn how the sticky sap from the maple tree is turned into a sweet delicacy with fun activities, crafts, hikes and a sampling of tasty maple treats. Free but some crafts may require a small fee. {details}

Head to Mainstrasse Village for the Mardi Gras Parade, 7pm. The parade will kick off at 9th and Main and run to 5th street. There will be fat heads, there will be beads. They will have music and dancing, fun for the whole family! {details}

The Fitton Center’s Carruthers Signature Ballroom will be transformed and turned into a little slice of New Orleans. Cincinnati’s hottest Creole band, the Hot Magnolias, will take the stage to lead a Mardi Gras Party right in downtown Hamilton! The evening begins at 7:30pm and tickets are required. {details}

Bark Bash is happening at Cincinnati Museum Center. Join in for a barking good time with activities such as: OMNIMAX film “Superpower Dogs”, get a Paw Passport and visit pet related stations in the Rotunda, cookie decorating, balloon dogs, panels, and more. Maple on Tap is happening at the Cincinnati Nature Center, 2-7pm. Enjoy the best of maple season during this family-friendly event featuring maple beer crafted by HighGrain Brewing Company using Cincinnati Nature Center’s own maple syrup. Discover the process of making maple syrup, learn how the beer was made, savor syrup from the evaporator, play team maple trivia, and more!  Tickets required. {details}

Step into STEM and discover the science behind the foods we eat at Cincinnati Museum Center’s new Kitchen Lab. Saturday’s family friendly class is “Foods Up Close” and goes from 11am until 1pm. Can you guess what foods you are looking at under a microscope? Discover some of the foods we eat on the cellular level, and compare the make-up of healthy and not so healthy fruit. These programs are free for CMC Members or included with a Discovery Ticket. {details}

Sam Adams Cincinnati Taproom has a few openings for their tour on Saturday, 1-2pm. We did this tour a few months ago and it’s pretty fantastic – a favorite for sure. This tour is ideal for those looking for a unique brewery experience, especially for Belgian and sour beer fanatics! This tour starts at the taproom with our brewer, Chris Siegman, and will move across the street to experience our 21 Cellar, with 175 bbl Hungarian oaks tuns and where our Kosmic Mother Funk calls home. You will also get to experience a behind the scenes tour of where the Samuel Adams Cincinnati Taproom makes their taproom exclusive beers! Also included in the ticket price is a guided flight of our taproom exclusive beers. {details}

The Semi-Colon Club presents “Ida B. Wells: A Passion for Justice” at the Harriet Beecher Stowe house, 12-2pm. The Semi-Colon Club was a literary discussion group Harriet joined while living in Cincinnati.  Our Semi-Colon Club discusses the issues that make up Harriet’s legacy–from the 19th century until the present day. Free, donations accepted, must RSVP. {details}

The Contemporary Arts Center hosts their Family Festival on Saturday: Unmuseum Opening, 12-3pm. Stop by the CAC for the unveiling of their newest Art Lab mural! This exciting work is a collaboration between the artist Lindsey Whittle and local high school students. Join in as to create artwork inspired by this new addition and stick around for a family friendly artist talk at 1pm in the CAC’s UnMuseum. {details}

It’s Cats’ Day at the Mewseum, the Lucky Cat Museum that is (10am-6pm). Saturday is Cat’s Day in Japan and the museum will celebrate with snacks, games, prizes, and activities – all with a kitty twist. The Lucky Cat Museum is housed in the Essex Studio.  {details}

Head to Big Bone Lick for a Winter Hike with NKY Sierra Club, 10am-1pm. Join the Park Staff and John Robbins from the Sierra Club, for a hike through the woods of Big Bone. The fresh air and still landscape is sure to keep you from getting cabin fever! Please meet at the museum parking lot and have a water bottle. Wearing long sleeves, pants, boots, a hat, gloves, and layered outdoor wear is recommended. The trail has moderate terrain and will be up to 4 miles. The program is free and open to the public; subject to cancellation due to inclement weather. The Cincinnati Zoo is hosting a Maple Tapping and Tasting event for families on Sunday, 1-3pm AT BOWYER FARM IN LEBANON. Join in at the Zoo’s Bowyer Farm for a fun afternoon full of history, hands-on activities, and storytelling all about maple tapping! This program offers a sneet peek into the history of this age-old tradition and offers an opportunity to participate in the maple tapping process. At the end, participants will be able to taste the pre-cursor to maple syrup, fresh from the tree, as well as some of the finished product! This program is sure to be fun for the whole family.
