Germania Oktoberfest

It’s Day 141 of “365 Things to do in Cincinnati” and today we are featuring Oktoberfest at Germania.  Germania’s Oktoberfest is “Cincinnati’s Original and Most Authentic Oktoberfest” (per Germania).

Germania’s Oktberfest is held on the Germania Society’s grounds and it is a HUGE festival.  With over 60 taps featuring German and domestic beers, Jagermeister, German food, music, dancing, entertainment and multiple biergartens… what’s not to love?!

Our first stop was at the covered pavilion, seen above.  It’s filled with tables and is lit up by hanging lights strewn across the beams above.  This is where you’ll find a lot of the outdoor entertainment (Germainia Schuhplattlers, Donauschwaben Dancers, Klaberheads, Alpen Echoes).  You can sit here under cover to enjoy the shows, hang out with friends or to eat some of their wonderful food.

Or perhaps you want to hang out in the newly expanded Forest View Picnic Grove.  Sit in the shade and enjoy the grounds of Germania.  This is where we found father and son enjoying a funnel cake…

Oktoberfest has a large children’s area as well as many adult games and entertainment.  But most of us come for the great beer and great food….

The food here is amazing.  They have all kinds of great German food – Berlin Style Currywurst (my favorite), Oktoberfest Chicken, Potato Pancakes, Schwenkbraten, Sauerkraut, Limburger Cheese, Pretzels, etc.  And that’s just what’s offered OUTSIDE.

Inside at the Klubhaus you’ll find the Homemade German Dinners cooked right there in the Klubhaus kitchen.  Enjoy home cooked pork loin, sauerbraten, and cabbage rolls with potatoes.  The Klubhaus has indoor seating as well as its own bar, German entertainment and a dance floor.
