Book a Fall Getaway – 6 Unique Spots to Get Away From it All!

As many of you might know, I recently started a new Facebook page. That page is Tank of Gas Trips and it focuses on Airbnb travel that is within “a tank of gas” from Cincinnati. If you’re up for some great getaways that are just a BIT further away (still within an evening’s drive), check it out here: Tank of Gas Trips on Facebook.

You might be wondering why am I telling you all that? Well, I’ve been obsessively looking through loads of Airbnb listings lately. I’ve found some great ones that are “tank of gas trip” worthy but I’ve also found some that are much closer to home.

Here are the getaways that are “much closer to home”.

As I’m compiling this list of getaways, they all have openings for fall of 2020.

Location and Approx. Distance from Cincinnati: Stamping Ground, KY; 100 miles

Highlights from the Owners*: “Bourbon History buffs will love the opportunity to stay overnight in an old distillery building. This lodging has a large main room, fully equipped kitchen, a bedroom with a Queen bed, bathroom, and laundry area.

The Buffalo Springs Distilling Company got it’s start in 1868. It closed and it’s warehouses were emptied out by the 1970’s. This building is one of the last structures left on the site.

This historic building was the main office and gatehouse for visitors to the distillery, so we can offer one bedroom due to the size of the structure.

There’s a City Park almost adjacent to the rear of the property and a family restaurant, stores, bank, post office, gasoline, and Police Station within walking distance.

With your stay, you and your family have access to the entire area that Lucy sits on, along with the creeks to play in, two fields behind the barn, and the yard in front of the barn has a volleyball, bad Minton, pickle ball, frisbees, horse shoes, and a trampoline for smaller kids, kerplunk, jenga, corn hole, mini golf, and basketball. Location and Approx. Distance from Cincinnati: Millersburg, OH; 200 miles

Highlights from the Owners*:  “When most people think of a tiny home, they think of a small cramped space. Nothing could be further than the truth. The tiny home movement is about making the most out of a small footprint. We designed The Scandi to feel roomy and spacious.

The Scandi is tucked back in a wooded area at the back of a small neighborhood. Once you park your car, you’ll walk down a private path through the woods to get to your personal Eden, surrounded by nature. During your stay, chances are you’ll see some of the rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks, birds, and butterflies that live on the property.

When you enter the Scandi, the first thing you’ll notice is the 12′ tall ceilings. Big beautiful windows on all sides give you a sense of being close to nature. The spacious deck runs the length of the home, and the comfortable adirondack chairs give you a place to drink your morning coffee while you enjoy nature. Just up the path is your private fireplace area where you can grill some food, or just enjoy an evening in nature.”
