byBridgett Raffenberg Today is our Day 125 of “365 Things to do in Cincinnati” and today we are downtown for lunch at Avril’s Marketplace. I met my husband for lunch downtown and we went to Avril’s Marketplace. Right next door to the infamous Avril’s butcher shop, this is a great place to go for a nice sandwich or salad. They offer a variety of cold cut type sandwiches as well as cold salads. I had a half chicken salad sandwich with a side salad. They had many cold salads to choose from but the broccoli salad was calling my name. They even have two different kinds of chicken salad. I had the dill chicken sald and it was very, very good. I really liked the texture of the chicken – it seemed to be finely chopped (you can probably see what I mean in the picture above). I loved that I could get a half sandwich with a salad too. It was the perfect amount of food for lunch. Now who wouldn’t like to eat that sandwich?! My husband had their brisket sandwich. I had to try it and it was every bit as good as it looks. I would highly recommend it to you meat lovers out there. If you’re looking for a grilled sausage, Avril’s has a cart outdoors where they grill up some great lunchtime treats. Avril’s Marketplace also sells a variety of fresh produce and a lot of grocery type items. I can see where this would be a handy place to shop in a pinch if you live downtown. I will warn you that the grocery prices were high but I guess you’d expect that for a convenient store type market. Avril’s does have a number of seats inside at tables and at the window. They also have a number of tables outside on the sidewalk area. Avril’s Marketplace is located at 37 East Court Street downtown.
