Here we are with another post for “365 Things to do in Cincinnati”. Today we’re featuring the “Travel, Sports and Boat Show” which is at the Duke Convention Center for the next week.
Let me start off by saying I’m not much of a boater… or much of a golfer…. or much of a fisherman…. but there’s something about this show that draws me in year after year. It’s fun to be able to walk onto these large boats and sit in the seats, look in the cabinets, etc. Speaking of looking in the cabinets, check out that boat above… there’s a toilet stashed in the cabinet on the left – opposite the steering wheel. Now that’s putting it all out there!
The pontoon boat…definitely more my style. This one has a second story from which you can slide down the water covered slide and into the lake (when it’s actually in one of course). This baby was a beauty… but I left her there. Be sure to invite me over if you take her home.
The campers were right up my alley. Be sure to take a look at them when you go. They have a whole line up of pull behinds that can be towed by smaller cars. The one above was fabulous. It was super small but had tons of storage, a big bed, a table, a kitchen, and a toilet (behind a door). The windows can be open or you can close them… and they’re actually windows (not a zippered vinyl cover). Loved it!
We loved seeing this small section of vintage wooden boats. Gorgeous!
Big boats aren’t the only thing on display here. You’ll find all kinds of outdoor related motor experiences – from Harleys to four wheelers to campers to kayaks.
The Hamilton County Park District has a few booths set up – one where they’re selling all kinds of sporting and fishing equipment (one of the busiest spots in the entire show). And if you’re feeling adventurous you might want to take a turn on their rock wall (I believe it was $5).
They have guest speakers, clinics and instruction all week long. They do have seating in this section and there’s also plenty of room to stand around the chairs. And, as you can see, the speaker is up on a stage for easy viewing. Click here for a list of the instructional segments.
