It’s Day 69 of 365 Things to do in Cincinnati and we are out “junking” at the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store in Mason.
This particular St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store is one of six in the region and is located at 1065 Reading Rd. (in the Mason Town Center). This particular one was a new one for me. I was in the area and decided to pop in to see what I could find. And this thrift store is a real gem…
It’s a rather large store, measuring in at over 10,000 sf. They have an enormous selection of everything from clothing to trinkets. Get a load of this entire aisle of nothing but books. It looks like a library, doesn’t it?! And that’s just one side of the aisle. Serious used book lovers – check them out!
They have an incredible selection of silver plated items. Of course they’re now missing a few as a couple made it home with me (already polished up and looking gorgeous by the way!). Here’s one of my favorites – a silver plate tea service…
Wouldn’t that teapot be cute with fresh flowers in it? That’s still there if you’re in the market!
They have an entire aisle with shelves full of framed art work. These two pieces were so cute. I don’t know if you can read the stamp but they were really old (no dates – just an old sticker from the framer).
And if you’re into 45′s and old albums, they have tons of those. Does anyone remember the little dolls that you could put on the middle of the turntable that would spin around as the record played? I know – totally dating myself there!
They also have an exhaustive supply of glassware. Just look at these gorgeous, heavy pieces of old stemware… just $6 for 4 of them (and there were multiple sets). Just try to get that price at Macy’s!
About 2/3 of the store is clothing so there’s lots to choose from there. And they also have an entire wall of purses and numerous pairs of shoes.
I came home with two gorgeous pieces of old monogrammed silver, a milk glass dish, a great old glass vase, and a like-new black leather Aigner purse… for a whopping total of $9 and change. I am a HUGE fan of thrift stores, garage sales and auctions and this is one of my new favorites.
Do you have a favorite thrift store???

My boyfriend and I visit this store all the time. We LOVE it!! Actually picked up a genuine Coach purse that was in good shape for only $15. You can also find Vera Bradleys every once in a while. Best place around…don’t forget first Monday of the month is half price day
:)
I am absolutely going to be stopping in there very soon, I LOVE thrifting. Just when I was thinking there may be no good ones down here too. Are there any others that have 50% off days certain times a month? I loved it when the ones in Columbus had them
By the way we had lunch at the Ludlow Bromley Yacht Club today and a Putzs Creamy Whip for a snack, all thanks to you!!
Funny you picked this location. It is my favorite thrift store. I bought 3 peasant style skirts which are popular at the moment and ended up paying only $12 for them! Also bought 2 smaller purses and paid $3.36:)
Village Discount Outlet— a great store! They have locations in Newport and another off of Pippin- they have a different color tag each day that takes 50% off of that particular item. LOVE IT! Also, Valley Thrift off of Reading Rd is another great one!
The St. Vincent on Reading Rd. has 50% off all clothing every Monday.
