fire up the night at coney island

On September 22, the nation’s first-ever fireworks competition will rock the night sky over Cincinnati, Ohio’s historic Coney Island Amusement Park in the inaugural “Fire Up The Night” international fireworks challenge.

The event will pit teams from the USA, Canada and Mexico against each other in a best-of-the-best fireworks’ extravaganza for international bragging rights. The aerial barrage is being produced by Cincinnati-based fireworks legend Rozzi Famous Fireworks.

Spectacular palm bursts, spiders, whizzers, screechers, brocades and splitting comets – and much more – will fire up the night over Coney Island, with a 5-judge panel and the public evaluating the presentations and selecting a winner. Each show will be judged on things such as presentation, structure and scale, colors, originality, and music synchronization.

Competitors in the world-class event are: Alonzo Fireworks (Mechanicville, New York, USA), Sirius Pyrotechnics (Quebec, Canada) and Lux Pirotecnia (Mexico City, Mexico). Following the international competition, Rozzi Famous Fireworks will fire up the night in a thundering finale not to be missed.

In addition to the fireworks competition you can also enjoy “Party IN the Pool” where visitors can enjoy the fun of the fireworks event inside Coney Island’s gigantic, emptied Sunlite Pool, where they can party with family and friends beginning at 5:00 p.m. The pool area will give patrons a fantastic vantage point of the fireworks displays, blasting off at 9:00 p.m.

The evening celebration will feature The Sunburners steel drum party band, and the Incendium Arts Fire Troupe, presenting a fully choreographed group fire show.  There is also a Craft Beer Festival (5:00 – 7:00 p.m.) featuring craft beers from across the nation. And for the kids, there is even a Dr. Pepper tasting event!

Admission for Fire Up the Night International Fireworks Competition is only $20 a carload and includes parking, Coney’s classic rides, live stage entertainment, and morePark gates open at 5 p.m.

Coney Island is located at 6201 Kellogg Ave., exit 72 off I-275, 10 miles east of downtown Cincinnati. More information call (513) 232-8230.
