It’s Day 263 of “365 Things to do in Cincinnati” and today we took a trip east of town and stopped by at Veterans Memorial Park.
If your New Year’s Resolution involves some tinkering with the weight problem this park might be just what you need! This very well-kept park offers tennis and basketball courts, soccer fields, baseball diamonds, sand volleyball courts.
A walking track surrounds this 25 acre park, perfect for walking or running off those extra pounds.
Bring the kids along to enjoy the large playground and the fishing pond.
When the weather warms up, the park has two covered picnic areas complete with lots of picnic tables and grills. The larger shelter even has a built in corn hole set.
The park has a very well kept facility with public restrooms too. That same building also houses what appears to be a concession stand.
And, of course we can’t overlook the namesake of this park nor the helicopter at the entrance. A plaque at the entrance to the park and the real Army helicopter honor those who’ve served. “The township is proud of its close ties to local veterans and veteran events, as well as the recreational amenities if offers its visitors.” (from the Union Twp. site)
Veterans Memorial Park is located at the corner of Clough Pike and Glen Este – Withamsville Roads in Union Township. The park is open from 6am to 10pm and admission is free.
