It’s Day 81 of 365 Things to do in Cincinnati and today we are adding to our “Who Has the Best Burger in Cincinnati” round of posts with our visit to the Quatman Cafe in Norwood.
Quatman’s takes up a little spot on the corner of Quatman and Montgomery in Norwood. But don’t let this little cafe fool you – they may be light on space but they are BIG on flavor. Much like Quatman’s “rival” Terry’s Turf Club, this place is loved and frequented by many. As we’ve tried a few burgers here and there about town, Quatman fans have been telling that we have to go get a burger at Quatman’s… and we finally have!
And you all are right – Quatman’s makes a pretty darned good burger! I lucked out and went on on the day that had a daily special of a cheesburger, fries and a drink for just $6.19 (check their online menu for pricing). By far the cheapest burger I’ve had so far.
Don’t expect any frills at Quatman’s – just good food. I ordered the cheeseburger with fries and a drink. The burger came with American cheese, a large slice of onion, and pickles on the side. Beside the burger was a rather large portion of shoestring fries (quite addictive I might add!). The burger comes just like that – no special sauces to choose from… but they do have mustard, ketchup and mayo on the table.
How was the burger? It was really good. The bun was soft with great texture. The burger was dense and meaty. I am not a huge “American cheese on my burger” fan but this was really good. The onion was fresh. I must say that I really liked this burger. It’ might seem a bit “plain Jane” when compared to Terry’s Turf Club’s Red Pepper and Goat Cheese Sauce or Gordo’s Jon Robert burger (with grape compote) but it was mighty good – especially considering my entire meal was under $7.
The Quatman Cafe is located in Norwood and they also have a new location in Mason. The Norwood location features a number of red-checked tablecloth covered tables as well as a nice bar area. For your viewing pleasure, there’s a TV in one corner of the bar. And for you Cincinnati brew fans, they have Hudy on tap.
I can certainly see what people love Quatman’s – great food, friendly service, a homey place, and great prices. And they do have more than just burgers of course. Seriously, where else can you get a bowl of homemade soup for $2??!! Try them out soon – you won’t be sorry!
The Quatman Cafe is located at 2434 Quatman Ave. in Norwood

Thank you for finally visiting one of my favorite burger joints in town. It is truley a quant little place. Hope many others will try it out and enjoy it just as my family and I have growing up over the years.
It is nice to have a place you can go and get a good, plain hamburgerand not have to worry about all the exotic toppings.
