Day 142 – Mt. Adam’s Bar and Grill

It’s our Day 142 of “365 Things to do in Cincinnati” and today we’re featuring the Mt. Adams Bar and Grill.  Just up the street from my grandparent’s old store (and the house my mom and siblings all grew up in), this place is a favorite amongst locals.

Mt. Adams Bar and Grill is a great place to meet up with friends.  They have a very nice bar up front with lots of booth seating and some tables.

I went to lunch “all by my lonesome” and was surprised when they took me way into the back to sit.  I didn’t mind going to the back – I just didn’t know they even had any seating beyond the front room.  I’ve been there before but always sat in the front room.

When we arrived at my table I was amazed by the difference in the atmosphere.  The front room is very bar-like in its “ambiance”  while the back room has more of a “ladies luncheon”, “sunroom” feel.

With floor to ceiling windows along two sides, this room is bathed in natural light.  The tables and chairs have an almost camp-like feel.  And the entire room is full of stained glass pieces and gorgeous vintage ceiling light fixtures.

Now onto my food review.  Let me preface this next part with this statement: I will return to Mt. Adams Bar and Grill because it’s just a cool place to go.  The atmosphere is great and you just can’t beat the hometown feel of Mt. Adams, especially when your parents grew up on Hatch Street (my mom was Mary Hille and my dad was Hugh Brady if any of you folks from the Hill are reading).  BUT, I was not wild about my food.

I had a burger, figuring it would be a good one to compare in our Burger Wars theme.  But I’m not going to do a comparison with this one.  It just wasn’t very good.  While it was certainly the right price (under $5) it had very little taste.   I’m not saying you shouldn’t order food here – I just wasn’t thrilled with what I had.

Head on out to the Hill and visit Mt. Adams Bar and Grill.  Hopefully you all can recommend something good to eat there?

Mt. Adams Bar and Grill is located at 938 Hatch Street

The fried egg sandwich is amazing! Add bacon to make it even better–I get it on white bread toasted. Tried their sweet potato fries yesterday and they were good. Also, for an app, their “mediterranean plate” which has warm soft pita bread and hummus is delicious. Love that place…we always ask to sit in the back. In the evenings, if Blind Lemon has live music, it’s a perfect place to sit and listen while away from the crowd.
